WHO AM I?
I'm Joe Mitchell, and I didn't start with a camera. I started with a pencil, then a 3D viewport, then a design tool. Years spent in art and 3D design taught me how to really see. Composition, colour, light, and the small choices that make something feel intentional rather than accidental. Picking up a camera felt like the natural next step, just with movement and story added in.
I'm based in Cornwall, where I've lived my whole life, but I've spent roughly a year of it away across four separate trips, chasing places and stories worth telling.
That mix has shaped how I shoot. I'm someone who genuinely loves the craft itself, especially colour grading, but I'm just as happy improvising on the back of a motorcycle in Indonesia as I am spending hours refining a grade back home.

Cinematic Storytelling
I shoot with intention. Every frame is built around composition, light and movement — whether that’s a locked-off shot waiting for the right moment or handheld footage captured on the move. The aim is always the same: to create something that feels alive, natural and immersive rather than staged.
Editing & Post-Production
This is where the story really comes together, and where I get to lean into one of my favourite parts of the process: colour grading. I take raw footage and shape it into something with rhythm, pace and purpose, then carefully grade each frame to create a mood and visual identity that feels distinct.
Creative Direction
Long before the camera comes out, I’m thinking about the bigger picture, the concept, the tone and how the piece should feel from beginning to end. My background in art and design means I’m not just interested in executing a brief; I want to help shape the idea behind it and make sure every creative decision serves the final piece.
