WHAT LINGERS

I made this about the strange bit nobody talks about: coming home.

Not the trip. After it. When you are back in the same flat, the same routine, the same walk to the shop, and somehow none of it quite fits anymore.

Shot across Southeast Asia and the UK, the contrast does a lot of the talking. Heat and movement on one side, grey stillness and routine on the other. I kept the shots small and controlled, leaned on natural light, and let a few fragments of memory creep in where they wanted to.

The rain scene is completely practical. No VFX, just a garden hose, a lighting rig I built myself, and a lot of trial and error to get the texture right. I wanted it to feel physical, like something you could almost touch.

This is not a film about travel being an escape. It is about what happens when the escape is over, the slow and unglamorous process of readjusting, and the way certain moments stay with you long after everything else has gone back to normal.
